Thank You Mr. Stockman

I would like to thank Mr. Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and currently a judge on the television show the Sing Off for placing his trust in me to strap his favorite Panerai 389. SNPR Straps made Shawn six really nice Horween Straps that can also be found in our store. It has been a pleasure and honor to work with Shawn this past month dialing in what he likes. Shawn is a hardcore watch enthusiast and knows the industry. You couldn't find a nicer and more humble gentleman to deal with.
Here is one of Shawn's recently acquired SNPR Straps. "The Cork"

Faraldi Box Project

SNPR with yet another project.  I am fortunate again to be surrounded by creative individuals who helped me design a high end custom watch box.  Now I realize this isn't everyones cup of tea but some may enjoy it especially if you can look at it in the sense of american made craftsmanship all done by hand.  This box was made by a local woodwoker named Joe Faraldi who before I got my hooks into him was making guitar pedal boxes.  I suggested making some boxes for me that can be of presentation grade.

This Box is made from various types of wood such as Tiger Maple and Mohangany.  This particular box has six slots that can hold a single strap or multiples layed on their side.

After receiving some feedback about the project I think reconfiguring the box to allow for watch storage along with straps as well as a small buckle or tool compartment maybe the way to go if the interest is there.  This one however is exactly as I wanted it because it will hold six very special straps when it is shipped out to a very special client.
I also would like to thank my good friend Vincent Damiano for once again his expertise with the camera.

Thank you All

The Leather Worker

SNPR Straps started back in 2011 when I decided to make a few straps for myself.  I had no Idea what I was doing but I stayed determined to learn.  Unfortunately there aren't many places if any to learn the skills needed so I went elsewhere to learn the valuable lessons from true craftsman.  I made numerous attempts until I was able to source the best leather and make straps worth buying.  Today SNPR Straps has turned more into SNPR Leather Works because I have expanded the product line into other quality American handmade items.  I am confident that the quality of craftsmanship and leather will exceed your expectations and will be something you are proud to own and pass down.  SNPR Leather Works is here to establish a brand that is known for American Handmade craftsmanship which is all too rare in a world of mass produced items.  Time will be invested into your product and these are the hands that will make it for you.

I used to do it the hard way with a punch and a hammer.  I got smarter as time went by and now each hole is punched cleanly and acurately with the 2 Ton Arbor Press.  Impressions using cutom engraved metal stamps are also put under the press to get a clean crisp stamping.

Bronze Fever

Yes its out there so join the fun.  While it would be nice to pick up a Panerai 382 I realize not everyone wants to mortgage the house to get one.  Relax there are alternatives that will get you in on the action and will not cost you five digits.  Then the fun begins when pairing that beautiful new Bronze (or Brass) with the perfect strap.  In my opinion if your dealing with a watch that will patina and show age over time such as bronze or brass why not match it with a strap that will do the same.  Here are a few pics to help you along.

What we have here is a variety of Oil Tanned straps that can withstand the daily abuse as well as water submersion.  Your wearing a dive watch so go dive with it.  Don't worry about your strap falling apart or becoming damaged.  I've tested oil tanned straps in water for 12 hours with no issues at all.

Below Shown on the Helson 45 Bronze is a padded Horween Black in the Derby Series of leathers.  Water resistant as well and no crazy fillers.  My straps are built to last and to withstand a beating.  The padded straps I offer are only padded with the same leather your strap is made from.  I stitch each strap with #207 or Government 3 Cord which is used for Weapon cases, Holsters, Horse saddles and considered Heavyweight.  Its probably overkill for watchbands but I like it and I trust it.

New Ideas

Im always trying to explore this endless craft that is leatherwork.  I find that by attempting new designs and branching out into other avenues only helps my strap making reach a whole new level.  I strive to offer American Handmade Leather Works of exceptional quality using the best material available.  Everything goes through a testing phase to make sure it can earn its place.  My latest project is the tablet cross shoulder bag.  Enough room for an iPad sized tablet in a tough case as well as a notebook or two and some magazines.  There is still work to be done on this piece such as fitting the cross strap and pockets but you can certainly get the idea of where this is heading.  These bags are handmade right here in the USA by me alone, not in a town somewhere that no one knows the name of.  Cut from a single side of %100 Horween Chromexcel from Chicago, Illinois.  Enjoy!!!

Yeah it's Cork

Thats right people....Cork.  SNPRStrap.com has acquired some genuine Cork straight from Portugal to fabricate some beautiful newly designed straps.  Cork combined with a double layer of Horween Chromexcel leather gives you a strap that is thick yet extremely comfortable and guaranteed not to be on the wrist of anyone else you know.  Not yet at least.

We are also thinking of adding some belts as well.  These will be 1 1/2" wide and made from 9 Oz Vintage Buffalo Hide.  They really have a fantastic look too them.  Vintage styled buckle and secured using gunmetal  Chicago Screws.

The Story

Leather is a wonderful medium for an artist to work with.  Its a material like wood that is alive.  Not only can it be shaped it into a work of art that tells the story of the artist using it but it already has a story of its own.  Leather comes with its past tattooed and scarred.  Boldly displayed for everyone to see.  The true artist does not force the leather into the way he wants it but rather works with it and encourages it to show the various treasures offered.

The artist must flow with the work making sure each step compliments the beauty of the hide used.  Showcasing if you will the various grains and color deformities.  I do my best to seach everywhere for the best material available.  World famous Horween Hides from Illinois, Hermann Oak from St. Louis, vintage material from Germany, Switzerland and Bulgaria.  Cork from Portugal and Alligator from the Florida everglades.  Regardless of the origins, it all ends up in front of me right here in the USA to create with it leather works that will travel the road with you.  They will tell your story with each scratch and dent you place on them.  Try not to look upon them as damage but rather beauty which makes each piece special to only you.

Explanation of Decima Flottiglia MAS

From time to time while wearing an XaMAS Strap people will ask me what the insignia is all about and how it is associated with Panerai.  I thought I would post a little info for you.

Decima Flottiglia MAS

The Decima Flottiglia MAS (Decima Flottiglia Mezzi d'Assalto, also known as La Decima or Xª MAS) (Italian for "10th Assault Vehicle Flotilla") was an Italian commando frogman unit of the Regia Marina (Italian Royal Navy) created during theFascist regime.

The acronym MAS also refers to various light torpedo boats used by the Regia Marina during World War I and World War II.[2]

Panerai

Officine Panerai Marketing e Communicazioni Srl, a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière Richemont S.A., designs, manufactures, markets and sells watches under the Officine Panerai brand through authorized dealers and company-owned boutiques worldwide.[1][3] Giovanni Panerai (1825–1897) founded Officine Panerai in Florence, Italy in 1860. Officine Panerai maintains its headquarters in Florence but manufactures watches in Neuchâtel, Switzerland using both movements manufactured in-house and movements manufactured by ETA S.A.[4]

Panerai watches played a role in assisting the frogmen of the Decima Flottiglia MAS in their operations during World War II. Notable products include the Luminor and Radiomir wristwatches.

New WorkShop

Hello SNPRStrap follows.  We are pretty much set back up in the new work space.  This new area is going to be perfect to really expand.  To those of you who have placed orders over the past few days I aplogize again for the spotty communication during our move.  Your orders are accounted for and straps are leaving the store.  For those still waiting on custom orders we are again in full swing and will be attacking the custom order list with a full tank of energy.

Quick News

Hello all, some quick news.  As you may have noticed Paypal is now again an accepted payment directly through the website so feel free to choose this option for payment should you wish to do so.  Also If communication is less then stellar the next few days it is because we are breaking down the current workshop and moving into our much bigger area.  This transition will take a few days and I will do my best to address your questions in between the move.  This new area will enable us to expand our artistic vision and turn these ideas into a reality.  I thank you in advance for your patience as always.
